Collaboration with IFF has reached a significant milestone as the “topping out” ceremony for the Booster project was celebrated on April 23 at the Finnamylin plant in Kokemäki. Despite the heavy snowfall on the day of the celebration, it fortunately did not dampen the spirits of those present. Smiling faces and a buzz of conversation filled the venue, and the atmosphere was expectantly enthusiastic.
The opening remarks and thanks to partners were delivered by Tom Schauman, CEO of the Chemigate Group, who succinctly summarized the current situation: “We have reached the halfway point, but there is still some way to go.”
Although at the midpoint—the Booster’s “topping out” has risen quickly compared to when the project was kicked off in March 2023 and the foundations were laid in January 2024. It is planned that the factory, which will manufacture biopolymers using enzymes, should be operational by next summer.
“So far, we have stayed on schedule and the start next summer currently looks feasible,” commented Technology Director Aki Laine.
Maria Lindholm, the production manager leading the project at Finnamylin, said, “For many of us involved, this project is not the only task we work on daily, so managing our own contributions well is crucial. There are many parts now, and each is moving along its own plan towards the same goal. We are doing our best and managing our part as well as possible in this pace. There is still much to do at the planning level, so it will be a busy time right until the end. Good luck to everyone for the final stretch!”
