Katariina Siltala started working as the new laboratory technician on a permanent contract at the Lapua plant on 1 June 2022. Prior to Chemigate, Katariina had a long career working for the same employer. She started at Etelä-Pohjanmaan Vesitutkijat Oy, which was purchased by Ahma Ympäristö in 2013. The company was further sold to Eurofins Oy in 2019. During her career of over 35 years, Katariina developed a precise and systematic work routine. She is thoroughly familiar with all aspects of water analysis, from determination of pH, solids and nutrients to microbiology. Now Katariina is facing a totally different sample matrix: instead of water samples, she will be analysing starch – mainly as a powder. She will also be dealing with another new sample type with a syrupy consistency, which will be produced at the plant expansion currently in construction.
“At this point of my career, it feels good to be able to challenge myself by new types of samples at a new and interesting workplace community.”
In her free time, Katariina likes to go jogging with her spouse and dachshunds or to an indoor swimming pool with her grandchildren. Her favourite hobbies also include kettlebell training and belly dancing.
