Good deeds get done during Chemigate’s fitness campaign!

This year, the funds collected during the sporting events, totaling 1,600 euros, were donated to the activities of Kummit ry. Interviewee: Emma Laakkonen, Communications and Marketing Specialist at Kummit ry.

Kummit ry is surely a familiar name to all of us, but could you tell us more specifically what Kummit ry is and what all Kummit does?

“Children’s Clinics’ Kummit is a charity organization founded in 1993 that supports Finland’s five university children’s hospitals, innovation projects, equipment purchases, development and research work, patient comfort, and the mental health of children and young people. Through their work, Kummit supports children’s health in Finland. The supported areas are the five university children’s hospitals in Helsinki, Tampere, Turku, Oulu, and Kuopio, where any child or young person in Finland can receive care if needed. Kummit’s cooperation with children’s hospitals is very close. The areas of support by Kummit include equipment purchases & innovation projects for university children’s hospitals, the comfort of young patients and their families during hospital stays, nationwide mental health projects for children carried out in collaboration with university hospitals, and extensive pediatric research work”.

What might Chemigate’s general donation be used for?

“General donations support all of Kummit’s important causes, both regionally (various university hospitals) and in terms of content (different areas such as equipment purchases and pediatric research). You can visit Kummit’s website to learn more about what impactful donations have enabled, for example, last year”. https://kummit.fi/kummien-vuosikertomus-2023-on-nyt-julkaistu/

In what different ways can companies get involved in helping?

“There are several ways for companies to participate, from partnership collaborations to company donations. For example, partnerships are often based on shared values – a motivation to support the well-being of children and young people in Finland. Numerous companies also participate annually in Kummit’s various campaigns to support children’s health. The support from companies is extremely valuable, and we are happy to discuss the diverse possibilities of realizing corporate responsibility in collaboration with Kummit or as a corporate donor”.

Can I help as a private individual?

“Of course, and the contribution of private individuals is extremely important to Kummit’s support network. Individuals can participate as regular supporters (monthly donations) or as one-time donors. Additionally, individuals, like companies and communities, can also create their own digital fundraising campaigns to benefit young patients. Private individuals also support Kummit’s work as volunteers, for example, in various events”. You can find different participation options for individuals here: https://kummit.fi/osallistu/

“We warmly welcome everyone to join the supporters of children’s health. You are needed, and you have a concrete opportunity to promote children’s health in Finland together with Kummit”.
